At breakfast, tensions rise. Jonathan reveals he tried out for the football team without telling Clark or Lois. Clark, distracted, mutters, “We’ll talk about it later.” Jonathan snaps, “You always say that.” Lois mediates, but it’s clear Clark is emotionally absent. Bizarro is chained in a red-sunlight room, weak but conscious. He mutters incoherent phrases in reverse: “...home... find... El...” Sam Lane orders a psychic probe using a device created by Dr. Faulkner (introduced last episode). The probe triggers a violent psychic backlash—Bizarro screams, and the entire facility shakes. Steel reinforcements bend like taffy.
He flies upward, tearing through six floors of concrete. Superman intercepts him above the desert. They clash—Bizarro is stronger but erratic. She hears a faint hum. Following it, she discovers a second, smaller portal device—still active. On its control panel is a symbol: the House of El, but mirrored. Lois takes a photo and sends it to Clark with a text: “We need to talk.” Clark finds Jonathan alone, angrily punching a heavy bag. Jonathan unloads: “You’re never here. Mom’s doing everything.
