The Zabur: Scripture, Identity, and Theological Significance in Abrahamic Tradition

The term Zabur (Arabic: زبور) is the Quranic designation for a holy book revealed by God (Allah) to the Prophet Dawud (David). It is considered one of the four major revealed scriptures in Islam, alongside the Tawrat (Torah), the Injil (Gospel), and the Quran. While often broadly equated with the biblical Psalms (Tehillim), the Islamic understanding of the Zabur carries distinct theological and historical nuances.
