Sheldon waves back. A tiny, almost imperceptible curl appears at the corner of his mouth.

Dr. Sturgis declares them co-authors. Sheldon doesn’t smile, but he doesn’t frown either. As Paige leaves with her mother, she waves. “See you next week, rival.” Sturgis

“No,” Sheldon replies. “You didn’t.”

Against his better judgment, George Sr. loans Georgie twenty dollars, but with a stern warning: “Hand-holding only. And if I find out you spent that on a twelve-pack of something, you’re mowing every lawn on this block until you’re thirty.”

Back home, Sheldon retreats to his room. He sits on his bed, surrounded by his whiteboard and his collection of Star Trek: The Next Generation memorabilia. He feels… wobbly. He doesn’t like it. He calls his Meemaw (Connie), who arrives with a six-pack of Dr Pepper and a pack of peanut butter crackers.
