In some facelift models (2000-2004), fuse #20 (cigarette lighter) often blows when using cheap phone chargers. Replace it with a 15A or 25A depending on your diagram inside the cover. Location 2: The Engine Compartment Fuse Box Located next to the battery. This box contains large fuses (often called "maxi-fuses" or "fusible links") for high-current systems like the radiator fan, ABS pump, and alternator.

| Fuse No. | Amps (A) | Component | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | | 110A | Alternator (charge circuit) | | 2 | 50A | Radiator fan (stage 1) | | 3 | 40A | Radiator fan (stage 2) | | 4 | 40A | ABS hydraulic pump | | 5 | 20A | ABS valves | | 6 | 40A | Heater blower motor (inside cabin) | | 7 | 20A | Engine control unit (main relay) | | 8 | 30A | Glow plugs (diesel models - 1.9 TDI) |

If a new fuse blows immediately after replacement, you have a short circuit or a faulty component (e.g., a damaged cigarette lighter socket or a broken power window motor). Consult a mechanic. Always keep a few spare fuses (5A, 10A, 15A, 25A) in the dedicated slots inside the fuse box cover. The car has a small plastic tweezer (in the fuse box) to easily pull out the fuses. If the tweezers are missing, use needle-nose pliers.
