The man smiled. The disk label read:

Then the cursor moved. Not by his hand.

Then the PC shut down. A single, final ding .

He typed his PIN.

"Don't do it," whispered his roommate, Leo, from the top bunk. "I saw you typing. I know that search."

But in the Device Manager, under System Devices , there was a new entry he had never seen before.

Arjun ignored him. He found the forum post—a labyrinth of broken links and password-protected ZIP files. The comments were a choir of desperate souls. "Works on 22H2!" "Thanks, bro!" "My antivirus screams, but my wallpaper is now a cat."

Arjun exhaled. The watermark was gone. He changed his wallpaper to a panoramic shot of the Andromeda Galaxy. Victory. That night, he left his PC on to download a game.
