The documentary crew flees. Sam has a choice: delete the 4K footage and protect the ghosts’ fragile existence, or release it to the world as proof of the afterlife. The 4K cameras roll. For the ghosts, it’s agony. Sasappis complains of a "brightness behind his eyes." Alberta feels her phantom vocal cords vibrate at a frequency she can’t control. Thor drops his axe—not because he’s startled, but because for the first time in 1,000 years, he sees his own reflection in the lens of the camera. Crystal clear . And he looks terrified. The documentary director, (sharp, cynical, carrying a spectral camera that records in raw, uncompressed light), sets up her equipment. She’s a non-believer. "Ghosts are just pattern recognition in low-resolution data," she tells Sam. "But 4K? 4K eliminates the shadows where people imagine things."
