The journal belonged to a former occupant of Willowdale, a man named Malcolm, who had been known to dabble in the dark arts.

The team soon discovered that "dsrip" was a code or incantation Malcolm had used in his rituals. The more they uncovered about Malcolm's practices, the more they realized that he had attempted to communicate with entities from another realm.
