This one breaks the rules. Freddy kills in the real world. He possesses Jesse. And there’s so much subtext (some say text) about repressed homosexuality that it’s become a cult classic for entirely different reasons. The infamous gym teacher scene? Yikes. A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream
But like any long-running horror series, the Nightmare on Elm Street films have highs that are genuinely terrifying, lows that are gloriously silly, and a few that make you wonder, "What were they thinking?"
