To be a daughter of God, then, is not a passive status. It is an active, costly, and defiant way of being.
And yet.
For if she is truly a daughter of God, then no earthly power can fully claim her. No law, no custom, no fatwa, no canon, no tradition that diminishes her can claim divine authority.
